Stephen Ministry is a caregiving ministry led by trained laypersons from our parish. Care receivers are the recipients of Stephen Ministry care.What Do Stephen Ministers Do?

Stephen Ministry is a system for organizing, equipping, and supervising a team of congregation members to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people experiencing life difficulties in the congregation and the community.

STEPHEN MINISTERS:
- DEPEND on God's presence, love, and guidance.
- SUPPORT and care for care receivers during their troubled times.
- LISTEN, listen to understand, accept, and encourage others.
- PROVIDE spiritual and emotional support.
- ARE not counselors or spiritual directors, but persons who have a heart for caring and compassion.
- REMAIN with care receivers as long as needed.
- ARE matched in a relationship by gender, male/male, female/female.
- MAINTAIN confidentiality of all aspects of the caring relationship with their care receiver.
- ATTEND faithfully to the caregiving process, usually meeting once a week.
- COMPLETE 50 hours of training in preparation for being commissioned as a Stephen Minister here at St. Vincent de Paul.

Stephen Ministers care for people experiencing difficult or troubled times.There are seasons in our lives when each of us experiences trials and troubles to varying degrees. God never intended for us to go through these challenges alone.

- Accept Care from a Stephen Minister during your times of need. God doesn't expect you to bear your burdens alone.
- Tell a Friend, Coworker, or Relative who is hurting about our Stephen Ministry.
- If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, Prayerfully Consider Becoming a Stephen Minister.
